hi Knitters and crocheters,

Hope your summer is going well. Here are a few pictures from July.

Joyce has been a knitting maniac! The first picture is a Mitered square bag, the second is a Knit1below scarf... I should say 3 of them..wow! One drove me nuts. The third is a Skacel baby argyle sweater pattern that came out soooo cute. I love it!

Fourth is 3 pairs of socks. The first one is for Breast cancer, I dont know if you can tell but there are breast cancer ribbons on them , the second is Regia self-striping..love the color and the third is J-knits sock yarn. Fifth is just a fun picture of yarn tha Joyce spun and dyed..Looks great!

If you cant guess what these are I will let ya know... Emily made several wool diaper covers for her new grandbaby! Gongradulations Emily.. They came out so cute.. If you would like to make some for the lucky baby in your life google hand knit diaper covers or knit nappy covers. YOu will find a million patterns.

Hi knitters,

I hope you are enjoying the weather today as much as I am. Can't wait for it to be 80! Below is a cardigan that Cindy made using Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece. It came out sooo nice!

The picture below is of Diana's bubble bag. She emb. some cute little flowers and branches on it. We love it!

This is a NEW yarn we just received for babies or anything that calls for sport weight. Its soft, washable and dryable, and the first four colors have a shine twist in them... The weight is a 2 (sport,baby) can be used with a 3-5 needle with 5.75-6.5 sts per in.

Ok now just keep in mind this bunny is the first thing I have ever crocheted following a pattern. His ears are a little wonky but over all, he's cute. The link for the pattern is below if you want to give it a try.

The bunny hat, everyone I show this hat to falls in love with it. I have made two so far and they are very easy. Several customers are making them also. Great for little heads! and adorable.

Hi knitters,

Have a few pictures here for you to look at. First, Sally is wearing her vest she made using Brown Sheep Bulky. (Shhh.... she didn't do a swatch and it fits perfect) Whenever we make anything to wear we MUST do a swatch if we want it to fit. That's what we are always told. Although now and then to be honest even if we DON'T make a swatch we might get lucky and it will fit perfect. Maybe we should have Sally buy us some lottery tickets! It's gorgeous!

This is a Market Bag made with Peaces and Creme. I found the pattern here http://www.knitpicks.com/kpimages/pdf/50564220.pdf I cut the pattern down from 14 rows at the top to 4. If I had done the 14 rows it would ave been down to my knee's! Love it, and plan on using it this spring and summer at the Hellertown Farmers Market and the Beach.

This is Kallie in her favorite hat... It's called Struan and it's from Raverly. If you are not a member of Raverly.com yet. You should join. There are tons of patterns for free and some for a few dollars. This one was like $3 and Kallie loves it. I already have orders...lol...from her friends!

I used Gallway but you could use any worsted weight wool or cotton for the summer!

Here is another one from Raverly.com. Its called Capitan. Mine is a little different from the one on Raverly. The kids wanted a shorter brim. Ya know... It's the style! I used Encore Chunky, but any chunky would do.

Here is Baby Afghan that Ginny made using Dreambaby DK. She is the crochet QUEEN. Its beautiful!

The pictures below are of a few things that Diana made. Love the bag!! The colors are beautiful! She used Plymouth Boku. The little pink bobble bag is adorable! We love it!

UNEXPECTED CHANGES

Hi Knitters,
A few pictures to show you. Carol made the cute baby A-Line dress. She used Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece and it is adorable. She also made the cute baby socks using Regia Silk. The second picture is of a sheep baby sweater and hat. A different customer made that set but darn if I can't remember her name. It came out adorable also. She used Berroco's Pure Pima. I will attach the pattern to your email.

Below are three projects done by one of our weaving customers. I don't know if you can tell but in the third picture there are sequins and glitter. She used several different yarns together and added Lazer FZ and Little Flowers. Love all of them!

Last but not least...Bonnie made this little Dalmatian hat for her grandson. He is so darn cute with or without the hat! She used Berroco's Comfort Worsted.

As some of you already know our class schedule was changed "last minute". I apologize for the inconvenience and if I had know earlier I sure would have let you all know.

ADDICTED TO HATS!

HATS, HATS, HATS.... I'm not sure what it is with hats but I get addicted to them. I find a pattern that I like then I have to make 4 or 5 of them in different color combinations. I like this one a lot! If you need to practice short rows, this is the hat for you. You can finish it in one evening! I used size 11 straight needles. The white hat is made with Brown Sheep Bulky and the blue and grey one is made with Cascade 220 Superwash held double and 1 strand of Crystal Palace Kid Merino to give it a kinda tweedy look. The link to the pattern is below. You will be doing this hat in 8 wedges. As you can tell from my finished hats I only did 7 wedges because I have a small head!

I love this hat also. It is a chunky cabley (is that a word.....spell check says NO) hat. It's kinda saggy in the back bottom. We love it! and it was fun and easy. Good first cable project. This pattern will be attached to your email.

Last week I posted this little sweater only part way finished. Bonnie finished it and its adorable! She used Mission Falls Superwash.

Just a few pictures this week. I wanted to show you a few of the baby afghans Wednesday nights class is donating to St. Lukes. They came out so cute! They used Encore Worsted and the 8 hr Baby Blanket Book.

Also, JoAnne's class made an earflap hat. They came out great too. The model is Wendy. They used Encore chunky.

Below is a vest that a customer from NJ brought in to show me. She used Crystal Palace Aran and blippity.

Hi Knitters, Hope all of you had a great week so far. I know I'm cold and cant wait for spring. Below is a cute hat Kathy made using 2 strands of Crystal Palace Iceland held together. The side flaps flip up and are held with snaps. To Cute!

These beautiful baby afghans are made with DreamBaby Dk. This customer makes tons of baby afghans with dreambaby!

This is Lynzee she is wearing my favorite hat. I made it with a pattern that I am attaching. I used two strands of Iceland wool held together and it came out great. Looks like she belongs in Russia! It's warm enough for Russia too.

This is a tube top I am almost finished with. I used Berroco's Mica and I love it! The pattern is from the book Fitted Knits and the yarn is perfect for spring and summer.

Hi knitters,

Finally i got the pictures to upload. Sheesh! Hope everyone had a great week. We have gotten in several new things this week. First... We have Skacel's Merino Lace booklet with 5 different lace patterns... If you would like to give lace a try this is a great booklet. We also received some great Merino lace yarn to go with it. It's 100% fine Merino Wool, and each hank has 1375 yards. WOW! Gorgeous colors too!

Second...we received Trekking HandArt in some beautiful colors... You can't even tell how bright the colors are on your screen. You have to see them to believe it! Also Trekking XXL in a bunch of new colors. The last picture in the group is a Limited Edition color pack of Fortissima Socka and Fancy Sox. Both of them are in some great colors!

We also received several new colors of Berroco Comfort. Very cute baby colors!

Below is a new yarn from Berroco called Mica. I LOVE IT! Its part linen and has a little bit of shine. 3rd picture is a new yarn also by Berroco. Pure Pima....It is 100% gorgeous cotton. It has a great feel to it and we also have several new pattern books to go with these yarns.

Lastly we received Crystal Palaces new sock yarn. (I'm using it for a hat) Mini Mochi. Beautiful rainbow colors!

Ok, onto other things. One of my GOOD customers, Licia Grim was in the paper recently. She is a volunteer for the Child Advocacy Center of Lehigh Co. She and several other volunteers knit blue scarves to be donated. Each scarf comes with an anti-child abuse label. GREAT JOB LICIA!!! We are proud of all of you! If any of you would like to make blue scarves PLEASE let me know. You can drop them off here and we will make sure they get to someone who needs them. I am attaching the article to your email so you can actually read it.

This is a bulky cable scarf I made last week. I used Plymouth's Baby Alpaca Grande and love it....It's sooo soft...It's like butta! I will be sending you the pattern in case ya wanna give it a try! Have a great weekend!

Hi Knitters,

Hope your all staying warm. I know I'm trying to! It's perfect weather to knit or crochet something warm and cozy.

Below in the fuchsia color, Athena knit a great headband using Brown Sheep's bulky. The pattern was posted a few weeks ago. If you decide you would like to make it also. Just check back to "It's December Already" post and you will find the pattern. It's #5 on the list. It is so cute!

Athena also made this beautiful scarf using a "wing it" pattern. You just grab all the yarn you have layin around, line it up together in color groups you like, grab a size 11 or 13 needle and cast on 60, 80, 100 or 120 or more if you like and knit leaving a 5 or 6 in. tail at the beginning and end. Change yarn each row and knit until it is a wide as you want....What could be easier! They come out great!

Susan made the scarf below using Ultra Alpaca. Its such a great pattern. I love it. I can't remember where the pattern came from at the moment but I will figure it out asap and post it here.

Remember this scarf? I made one myself using black Creme...Silk and wool. Luann is finishing hers up using Ultra Alpaca in red. Great color choice!

Bonnie is the baby sweater QUEEN. She is making this sweater using Mission Falls Superwash in the cutest colors! I will post another picture when she is finished.

I am making a sweater from Fitted Knits using Cascade Eco Wool....I love this wool so much that this is the second sweater I"m making with it. I also made the thrummed mittens and hat and the 28thirty cropped sweater with it. I decided today that I needed a break from the k2,p2 rib on my sweater sleeves. It's drivin me nuts. Soooooo...lol.... I started a scarf to do in between. I just got in some of Plymouth's Baby Alpaca Grande and since I have always loved this yarn I decided to use it. THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER!

Hi Everyone, YAY! the holidays are over and we all seem to have made it through in tact. Lots of us finished the gifts we planned to give and some of us (including me) are still working on several different things.
Below are two scarfs that Carol made. For the first one she used Crystal Palace Kid Merino and felted it using small wooden balls rubberbanded in the fabric towards the bottom. As you can see where the balls are does not felt and gives it quite and interesting look. The white one she used Kid Merino and Ultra Alpaca held together. This one you can really see where the marbles were rubberbanded. They came out great!

I had to take a picture of this. It's a scarf using Ultra Alpaca. Look at all the different colors. She has many more patience then I do. Its beautiful and I cant wait to see it finished!

Hi knitters,

We have 5 more days to go. Just a quick reminder... There are NO classes on the 24th (Wednesday) 25th(Thursday) or 27th( Saturday). I am closed the 24th 25th 26th, 27th and 28th. I am also closed on the 31st( Wednesday) and 1st (Thursday) which means there will be no classes on these days either. Hope to see you all again in the new year! THE DAY AFTER

Hi Knitters,
It's hard to beleive it's the day after Thanksgiving already and Christmas is right around the corner. YIKES!
I have a few things to show you from the classes. Below are a pair of Pedicure socks that Kathy made to match the pink flip-flops. She is going to give them as a gift for the holidays. They are great and I sure hope the lucky recipient appreciates all the hard work she put into these! She used Regia sock.

This is a beaded bag that Athena made for her daughter. She used 2 strands of Brown Sheep worsted held together and she added a lining that we all LOVE! Great job! (if she doesn't want it, I will hang MY stocking on the porch!)

This is Dottie modeling her shrug she made with Plymouth Encore Chunky. It came out great! (and NO it doesn't look like an armadillo)

Below is a scarf that Susan is making using Plymouth DK. It's the Drop Stitch Scarf pattern that JoAnne's class made a few weeks ago. I also took a picture of a pair of socks that she made with the 2 circ. but it seems to be missing at this time. She put alot of hard work into those socks and as soon as I figure out where the picture went I will post it.

Below are 2 pictures of the crazy scarf I made. It looks much better in person...lol... I couldn't get a decent picture! Ya can't see the glitta and bling! I gathered all my scrap yarn, ya know all the partial balls we all have laying around and separated them into a color palate that I liked, then I CO 120 sts onto a size 17 /16" circ. ( you could use a 15 or 13 or even an 11, whatever you have) and left a 6" tail. I knit to the end and left another 6" tail and then cut the yarn I was using and started at the beginning with a different yarn. I repeated this process until it was as wide as I wanted. Then I laid it on my dining room table and tied the tails together in 5 groups. Never in a million years did I think my teenagers would like it. OMGoodness, they did! I have made 3 more so far. Lynzee wanted blues and browns like mine and Kallie wanted browns and pinks. I didn't realize I had so many blue, brown and pink yarn hanging around. Oh by the way, when I made the kids I CO 80 sts. If I had made there's 120 they would be falling over it. Doubled and wrapped around my neck the 120 comes down to my mid-thigh.

I am attaching the December Calendar to the email I am sending all of you. After the Christmas holiday there are several days I will be closed. Please make a note of these days as the classes will be canceled. Have a great weekend! Donna

THANKSGIVINGS ALMOST HERE!

Just a short post this week. Below is a picture of a baby sweater that Wendy is JoAnne's class is making for a friends new baby due close to Christmas. This a picture of the finished beaded hat I made from the ODESSA HAT pattern. I changed it around a little. I didn't want the holes so open so I used worsted weight with size 3 16" circ. for the ribbing and size 5 16" circ. for the rest of the hat. Also, I used 110 4mm beads instead of the 6mm beads it called for. I love it and it fits great!

A few things to remember: JoAnne's class on Wednesday Nov. 26 is canceled. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. I assume we all will be busy preparing for Thanksgiving. I will be closed Thursday Nov. 27th for Thanksgiving so Diana's class Thursday evening will be canceled also. I will be here Friday and Saturday the 28th and 29th. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

Hi Knitters,
I have lots of pictures and questions this week. First, If you didn't know already Northampton Co. has a local no kill animal shelter located on the outskirts of Easton. http://www.spcanorthampton.org/
Since they are a no kill shelter they have more then 400 cats at this time and more come in everyday. They are in desperate need of cat food. If you happen to be out food shopping they would love it if you could pick up a bag of cat food to help feed all these hungry cats. Although they appreciate anything you could donate they are requesting bags of food WITH NO COLOR ADDED. Lots of cat foods have red and green coloring added. The cats have a hard time tolerating this food. So, If you can find it in your heart to grab a bag of cat food (brown) on your way, the cats and people that take care of them would really appreciate it! You can drop it off here at the shop (828 Main St Hellertown) and I will get it to them. Please, Please, Please, around the holidays we all remember people that need food....Animals need it also!

OK onto knitting. These first pictures are of LOTS of hats and mittens that Joyce has spun and then knitted for her lucky family for Christmas.

These two pictures below are of Carol's projects. The first is a froggy sweater she is finishing up for her daughter and the second is a door mitten that JoAnne's class is doing. The pattern is written to be felted but Carol is not going to felt it. She is going to use it for her stocking. Great Idea!

This is a picture of Carol with her hat/ neckwarmer on. It has a draw string at the top so you can wear it as a hat then untie it and use it as a neckwarmer.

Below is a hat that I'm making with beads. I found the pattern at http://www.grumperina.com/ Its called the ODESSA HAT. LOVE IT!vThe pattern calls for DK weight but I wanted to use it to keep my head warm while I'm out in the cold so I went down to size 3 and 5 16" circ. needles and size 4mm beads. I used Berroco's Jasper 100% wool because I love the colors and the feel of the yarn. Its soooo soft and nice to work with!

NEWS....I had two Women from the Allentown Art Museum stop in today. I decided that this weeks post would be about information. I have found hundreds of new sites with knitting and crochet info recently. This knitting shop located in Canada has some of the best sites compiled in one spot. http://www.knitomatic.com/beginners.html#magazines They have anything you need to know about knitting and crochet at a mouse click! Also, If you are doing a pattern that calls for a W&T (wrap and turn) or short rows, don't be afraid to give it a try. Cocoknits http://www.cocoknits.com/info/tutorials.html has one of the best tutorials on short rows. I have used her method and it works out great. Much easier then others I have seen.

I am also adding a few sites where I have found some great patterns. Glampyre knits has a top down raglan pattern available for free if you are thinking you would like to make a warm sweater for these chilly days. http://glampyreknits.tripod.com/glampyrephotos/id44.html I thought this was cute. http://www.freevintageknitting.com/baby/snow-baby-pattern.html If you scroll down below the pattern and along the right bottom side you will find tons of vintage patterns like my grandmother used to make. Some of them are things you should make for your little ones when they aren't old enough to say NO! (HAHA) Here is a site that has 9 cowl patterns with pictures http://frayedattheedges.blogspot.com/2008/10/on-hut-for-cowls.html If you want to make a raglan sweater custom, here is the pattern for you http://www.woolworks.org/patterns/raglan.html you can use ANY needles and ANY yarn. This pattern shows you how. Onto some class pictures. The first picture is of two sets of fingerless gloves and a pair of men's fingerless gloves made by Emily. We have seen some of her work before on this blog. Most of it has been socks. She's branching out! She used Crystal Palaces Aran 100% wool and they turned out great! The second and third pictures are of a beautiful sweater that Sandee made. She used Mission Falls Superwash wool. Sandee put alot of work into this sweater and it shows. Its beautiful and since it fits her perfect, that's even better!

Sue is almost finished with this adorable sweater for her grandson. She used Encore worsted in the cutest colors . Its hard to tell on your comp. but she did a great job picking the colors.

Below is a earflap hat I'm making for Kallie and Sean. Kallie wants the blue as the main color and the black as the contrasting color and Sean wants the opposite. I got the pattern on Knitty. I have posted the link so you can print one out for yourself if you know anyone that would like it. I'm thinking I am going to have to take it out and redo it because as you can see from the first picture the black starts very high up and I think its going to be to tall for Kallie. I think it needs to start about 2 inches lower. You could use Plymouth's Encore or Galway, Berroco's Comfort, Ultra Alpaca, or do the main color in Berroco's Jasper and a solid contrasting color. There are lots of options for this hat. Best of all.....kids love it! On the earflap you have a choice to do Peace signs or not. Peace signs are kinda big with kids so they loved that too.

Hi Knitters,

I have a few pictures of things customers have made recently. Below is a candy corn washcloth from JoAnne's class. To cute!

These two pictures are of a afghan that Carol made for her son Charlie for his birthday. She used Berroco's Comfort and as you can see she did a great job!

Sandy made the hat with sequins and Crystal Palaces Taos. Very glittery! My kind of hat. The socks were made with Cascade's Fixation, and I sure can't remember who made them...lol...but they do look good! I apologize to the person who did all the hard sock knitting. Maybe Sherri? It's comin to me...Probably after I post this and email it to everyone THEN I will remember.

Here is what I am working on this week. I know it seems kinda lacy and uhhh, not warm, but I thought it would be nice to wear inside with a warm sweater and then in the spring also. (Multi-functional) You cant beat that, or even to send to someone in a warmer climate say, Arizona for Christmas. I am attaching the pattern. I am using SWTC TOFUtsies sock yarn. You could also use 2 balls of Plymouth's Happy Feet DK and cast on less or any left over sock yarn that you have hanging around. Its a multiple of 2 sts + 7 so it's pretty easy to change. Hi Knitters,

I have lots to show you this week. Sally from Thursday nights knitting class finished lots of projects. The first picture is a felted knitting basket made with Brown Sheep's Bulky and its huge. You cant tell to good from the picture but you can fit a small child it! Second is a purse that is made with Plymouth's Galway. The colors are great! Third is a neckwarmer and scarf all in one. It's made with Berroco's Ultra Alpace Light. Fourth was orininally a eyeglass case but, you know how felting is, sometimes it comes out perfect and sometimes not what you expected at all. Sally made this larger then expected eyeglass case into a very cute purse. Just big enough to carry keys, phone and money. (Sorry, I cant remember what it is made from.) GREAT JOB SALLY!

Below is a baby earflap hat I made from sock yarn. I'm sure you could make 2 out of one ball of Regia Self -Striping or just use your left overs, add them together as you go and make a very cute baby cool and warm at the same time. It just so happened I was looking for a baby and BAM! In came Jackson! Remember awhile back I posted his newborn picture...I can't beleive he is soooo big already. Man it goes fast. As you can see it fits him to perfection. (dont know how that happened) Can't forget his Mama Steph there in the backround trying to sneak out of the photo. GOTCHA!

Last but definatly not least, the picture below is from JoAnne's class on Wednesday nights. Remember the cable bags they made not to long ago? Well they finished their bags using Fantasy Naturale. Perfect timing to finish the Basket Weave scarf using Berroco's Ultra Alpaca Light. They came out GREAT!

The second picture is of a slipper that I made using 2 strands of Plymouth's Galway held together. They took just ONE ball of each color with some left over, problaby enough to make a pair of short fingerless gloves that I sent out a few weeks ago. If you want to learn how to wrap and turn, Pick up sts and use 2 circ. needles this is a great pattern to learn it on. One of my GREAT customers Carol let my in on the pattern. She found it here at http://www.cocoknits.com/ Click on knit, then go down to accessories, click on Malabrigo Loafers. I bought the pattern and love the slippers. They fit great and are cushiony too. (is that a word?)

WARM WEATHER?

Hi Knitters,

In case you haven't noticed its mighty warm out there. Perfect to finish up all things that you want to wear when it get chilly out. Fingerless mitts, flip top mitts, ear warmers, neck warmers...You get the idea!

Hope everyone had a great week so far. Last week I posted a picture of the Flip-Top Mittens. This week I finished a Neckwarmer and Earwarmer (headband) all from the same ball of yarn.

1 ball....made ALL of these! WOW! What a great gift! If it's for a guy you could make fingerless gloves, a hat and with whats left over make a neckwarmer too.

These pictures below are of Dottie's great projects. The first one is going to be a shrug and the second is a picture of her 2 socks on 2 circ. This is prob. her 3rd pair. WOW! Her and I sure have come far from where we started! (Paaaaat we don't get it... can you help us?)

Also we just received several new colors of Plymouth Happy feet DK and a few patterns for a 1 ball baby sweater. The colors are great and the sweater pattern is very cute!

That's about all I have for you this week. My comp. had a virus so I have spent the last 3 hrs. trying to fix it and my eyes are blurry but it's fixed! So, don't forget....

Good thing I just finished these Flip Top mittens. I might be needing them in the not so distant future! UGH! I used the yarn that was in last weeks blog post. Murano Bulky. Hopefully I will get a pair of mittens and a hat from one ball. You could also use Encore Bulky or Brown Sheep bulky.

Its very easy, kinda confusing when you start the Flip Top but just follow the directions line for line and you should have no problem.

Below are 2 scarves that Kathy made. The first is the Drop Stitch scarf and the second is Spectrum Scarf from Knitting Daily. She used Regia Silk and it came out gorgeous! The pattern link is below the pictures.

COOL WEATHER HOT YARN!

Hi All,
Just a quick post today. Been busy! YAY! Below are 3 pictures from JoAnne's class last night.
The first 2 are of Mary's projects. The first is a part of her sweater. Looks great. The second is of the button tab hat that I found a pattern for last week. I will be attaching this pattern and sending it to all of you. Its a great looking hat and it's quick. I have made two. One with Pure Merino and one with Crystal Palace's Creme. You can use any worsted weight. Encore, Brown Sheep, Mission Falls, you get the idea.

This picture is a cute Superman sweater that Holly made for her cute grandson. She used Encore so it is very easy to take care of and looks great even after washing.

Below I tried something new. It's a video of a new yarn I received today. It's Austermann Murano. It uses needle size 9-11 has 262 yds and is washable. It came in 4 great colors!

Hi Knitters,

Hope your week has gone well. All the Saucon Valley kids are back in school now thank goodness. I can't imagain what the people who have small children and both parents work were doing this past week! YIKES

Ok onto knitterly things. I have started receiving some new fall yarn. I have several new colors of Berroco's Jasper. Great fall colors! I found a great pattern for a small beret and with 2 balls I have made the beret and a pair of fingerless gloves. They even fit me, Imagain that!

Below is a purse that Carol from Thursday's class with Diana made. You can't really tell in the picture how gorgeous it actually is. Its made with Berroco's Suede Deluxe and has lots of glitter through out.

Finally I started the Rat Race scarf my son has wanted for awhile now. Its much easier then I thought it was going to be, I'm using encore Worsted and Sean picked the color. I decided to use Encore so when the scarf gets RATTY (HAHA) I can throw it in the washer and dryer and it will still look like new! Only 11 year old boys would like a scarf of rats around their neck!

do any of you remember when my friend Steph and her husband Andy were pregnant? Remember when I was making that baby sweater with the hand print on the front from Mission Falls? Well here is Jackson actually wearing it! Surprise, surprise it actually fits. Sometimes when you make a baby sweater before that baby is even here, your all worried that a wool sweater might fit in the middle of August! YAY! Sooo glad he has gotten to wear it. Besides, he is so darn cute!

KNITTING WEATHER!

Hi Knitters, Hope you week is going well. The weather is gorgeous and great for knitting. Below are a few pictures. The first two are from Carol. She used Cascade 220 superwash to make the baby blanket and it turned out sooo cute. I love the colors. The second picture is also from Carol. She made a cute little dress with Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece.

Below is a cute little outfit made by a different customer also made with Brown sheep Cotton Fleece. Skirt, top and a hat. Some lucky little girl is going to be happy!

In last weeks blog I told you that Knitwitz was going to be at the Hellertown Farmers Market. Thanks to Jean, of the East Penn Spinners Guild, Kallie learned to spin. She has been spinning ever since! She has already filled up two bobbins and is working on plying them together. Hopefully we have our own Knitwitz Jr. Handspun soon!

Don't forget Pat has added a new class Tuesday's from 10-12 and she is also here Saturday's from 1-3.

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all got your children off to school. YAY! The school year holds mixed emotions for me. Excited that the kids will have a full day and come home tired...lol... and dread for the getting up at 6AM. UGH! Hate that!

Onto other things. I HAVE received these new patterns from Noni. THEY ARE IN THE SHOP!

I hope everyone had a great last week of Summer. I know officially it's still summer but when the kiddies head back to school, to me it's fall. Perfect knitting weather ( although I needed to turn my a/c on). I'm making a Noni felted bag right now among the other 6 projects I need to finish. Below is a picture of the one I choose. Mandy Color

Mandy Color Just like our solid colored Mandy, this multi-colored version is also a blend of cotton in an I-cord structure. It is 51% cotton and 49% acrylic with 82 yards per 50 gram ball. It knits up on US 9-11 needles, yielding 3-3.75 stitches per inch.

Savanna

Luxurious is how we describe this wonderful blend of cotton and rayon. This yarn is made of 55% rayon (which gives it a lovely shine) and 45% cotton. There are 87 yards per 50 gram ball, and it knits up on US 7-9 needles, yielding 4-5 stitches per inch.

Merino Lace This fine, lace weight 100% merino yarn comes in colors both bright and subdued, and is ideal for those special lace projects. There are 1375 yards per 100g hank. A lace pattern book with 7 patters will also be available.

Trekking Hand Art - SOCKS

Here is a hand-dyed sock yarn from the Trekking family and a must-have! This yarn is 75% Wool and 25% Nylon. It has 462 yards per 100 gram hank, and knits up on US 1-3 needles, yielding 6.75-8 stitches per inch. This yarn is also great for shawls!

Murano is a quick knit in self-striping colorways with very long repeats. It is made of 51% wool and 49% acrylic. There are 262 yards per 150 gram ball, and it knits up on US 9-11 needles, yielding 3-3.75 stitches per inch. Excellent for the multi. directional scarf. 1 ball will do it!

Trekking 6-Ply

One of the highest quality sock yarns available today, in a 6-Ply! It is 75% Wool and 25% Nylon with 429 yards per 150 gram skein. It knits up on US 5-7 needles, yielding 5.25-6 stitches per inch. Great for baby sweaters too!

New Fall 2008 Yarn This new, limited edition sock yarn has been specially developed for kids in bright, cheery colors! It is 75% wool and 25% synthetic and knits up on US 1-3 needles, yielding 6.75-8 stitches per inch.

Finally back from vacation although my brain still feels like it should be at the shore. Other then family,friends,customers & business, I didn't really want to come back...lol... We loved the Cape and had an awesome time!

"This summer in the Wednesday night class- we will be continuing with the afghans in Encore and adding a washcloth each week. Gotta keep trying new things. I have found 2 great fair Isle patterns for fingerless gloves- but those can wait until early fall. For the balance of the summer- small projects are the thing to add each week- keeps things interesting. I have ideas for another purse- this time a circular bag - like a sampler bag- each section is a different stitch. Speaking of samplers- this is going to be a popular technique this year- so we will do something- maybe a scarf -where each square or section is a new stitch- this way we can add some lace work without driving ourselves crazy. I am also trying to get an idea or 2 on Bookmarks- very small & very Lacy. "

Hi all, Hope you are enjoying your summer so far. I know I am! I have lots of pictures for you. First are Diana's class. (Thursday 6-8pm) Sue is making the Carpet bag from Knitting Daily. Sally is getting a head start on winter and making some mittens using Mission Falls Superwash. Carol made this cute felted cell phone holder with a great flower. She used Brown Sheep wool.

Here are 2 cute bags that EJ made and a picture of the REAl EJ. She didn't realize her horns were showing! HA!

Below Athena is making a great scarf for her daughter and Dottie is making a lap robe for her mother.

We had 2 new students last Thursday. Ida is 16 and and wanted to learn how to knit. She did a great job and left knowing how to knit, purl, Cast on, add colors and Cast off! Wow she learned alot. Our second new student was making a shawl and adding fringe to the edges.

Julie is making another pair of socks. We always new it took balls 2 to be exact, to make 2 pair on 2 circ. Here are my socks that I'm working on with Cascade Fixation. I am using left over colors that I have hangin around.

Several people in JoAnne's class (Wednesday 6:30-8:30) decided to make afghans. JoAnne was nice enough to give everyone that is making one a book with 15 patterns in it for FREE. Each afghan takes 1 bag of Encore Worsted. Below are 2 samples. Carol is making the green one and Tish is making the cabled throw. If you want to get in on the Afghan makin' just let us know!

Here are a few pictures from World Knit in Public Day. It was a great day and I'm waiting to here who won the Knitwitz basket??? I would have loved to take more pictures BUT my camera batt. went dead. UGH! Anyway I got a picture of Judy and Vicky knittin away.

Now here is a mystery picture. For the past few weeks in JoAnne's class we have all been addicted to wash clothes. Ya know sometimes ya just get the bug! Last night at 12:30 am while the kiddies were makin a bunch of noise out in the camper, I had a brain storm. Onto exciting class projects. The first picture is a sooo cute baby sweater that Vicki made. You might remember on last weeks blog she made a purple baby hoodie with Bunny Hop. She is the baby sweater QUEEN! Second picture is of Dottie's 2 socks on 2 circ. She is doing an excellent job! She is using Cascade's Fixation and in the background you can see the book we are all using. Knitting Circles Around Socks. I have reordered this book several times and always sell out of it. It should be here any day! The third picture is of Joyce's hand spun, Hand-dyed and Hand-knit Lucy bag! It came out great and it's already sold! Great job!

Hi Everyone, First things first. I have been having an ongoing issue with Enter.net and am very dissapointed with their customer service. So I have decided to cancel my service with them and find someone that actually has customer service! Also, they have the wrong hours listed for June, July and August I have been calling them since April and still no one has called back. I'm done and will find someone else.

Ok, onto other things. I have tons of pictures from our recent classes. The first three pictures are from JoAnne's class. Cookie is making a little girls smocked dress out of Plymouth Encore. She is almost done. Its so cute. Next are knitted coasters. Made with Peaches and Cream Cotton. I think you can get four out of one ball. They are making these in JoAnne's class. Carole is making a cute litte baby sweater with Plymouth Dreambaby D.K.

Carole brought her little cutie to knitting last night, (wed) Andrea. She passing her mom a puse handle. Next is Wendy...HAHA She has 2 kids under 3 so she is allowed to, lets just say go COOKOO once in awhile AND she did'nt even sign a release! HA!

Now for some fun info. I just found out that June 14th is knit in public day. June 14th from 10-2, in Honor of this wonderful day, there will be a knit in public get together at the Promenade Shops in Center Valley. Everyone will meet under the gazebo. There will be door prizes and all! Also If you want to bring a square to be added to a charity Afghan your name will be entered twice into the door prize contest. I will get back to you with the size of the square needed. Sounds like fun! Don't forget about our new hours starting June 15th Thursday 11-5 Friday 11-6 and Saturday 10-3.

SOCKS! and other things

Hi all, Here are my sock pictures. Even on actual feet. They fit, BOTH are the same size and BOTH are done! YAY! I made another pair already and wore them last night. It was chilly. I found the pattern here. I decided to make this pair so I could practice the two circ. and cable without a cable needle. FUN FUN FUN! The pattern calls for worsted weight so I used Cascade 220. The came out great and I will post the pictures next week. If you want to give it a try the link is posted. It is a great men's knitting magazine. Hi Knitters,
Below are some pictures of our 2 socks on 2 cir. The first picture is Pat's sock. She made the sock with Cascade fixatation and sz. 3 needles. Next to Pat's sock is a picture of the class she was teaching. As you can see there are a lot of people that wanted to learn this technique.

Below is Julie working on her pink and purple socks and below is Joyce working on her socks. Joyce spun the wool she is using.

Gail is working on her Wonderful Wallaby, Cecei is working on her socks using Cascade Fixation and Linda is also working on her socks using Fixation.

Here are 2 pictures of my socks. I just needed to finish up the toe. Next week I will post pictures of these socks actually on someones feet.

Here are a few pictures of things other then socks. Kathy made a child's throw using Plymouth Encore Colorspun. She held 5 strands together and used very large needles. It came out great! She is making 2 more with different colors. I will post them as soon as she is done. Next is Cindy's purse. She is using Plymouth's Fantasy Naturale. I will post another picture when it's all done.

Hi everyone, Just wanted to let everyone know that I realize the Knitwitz calender located on the side bar has nothing on it. I spoke with Enter.net again today and this problem will be resolved ASAP. Just a small blog this week. Joanne (our famous knitter) brought this bag in that she made. She used Plymouth Encore Colorspun in a seed stitch and some fuzzy stuff at the top. She lined the bag with felt to match. She also used Crystal Palace Blue glitter handles and some beads on the clasp. It came out great! I love it!

Last night we had several people sewing up the sides of their cabled bag and crocheting on their handles. The handles were a little tricky but we got it! This is the lining that I am going to use. A little wild but I like it.

Below are my 2 socks on 2 needles. I ripped out my first attempt at making them because I was so concerned with figuring out how I needed to turn the needles, that I was knitting sooo loose they were going to fall of my foot. I finally got it figured out! Now I can concentrate on the lace instep. The second picture is the heel. I gotta say that was confusing but Pat being the great teacher that she is got me all worked out. So far I like doing both at the same time. I will be glad to have both of them finished. I already have a plan to make another pair. first though I need to make a pair of fingerless gloves for a friend. I am going to use the same technique and when I'm done I'm done!

Bring a yarn sewing needle- blunt tip.Suggestion; use light to medium shades of yarns- don't use black or very dark colors- harder to see the stitches.

Exciting News!

Hi Everyone, First things first. It just a little more exciting around here! Remember this scarf? (below) The braided one? Well I just found out that the Crystal Palace Sock Guru, DrLaura and lots of blog readers loved this scarf sooo much that they want to post a picture of it on their site! Yay for Joanne!!! She will dropping over in the next few days to give me the pattern she designed. I am so happy and excited for her. If I weren't sitting here typing I would be jumping up and down. Ok on to other things.. below is the cabled bag and small bag that everyone is making in JoAnne's class on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30. They are using Plymouth Yarns Fantasy Naturale. Some of us are making them shorter. Either way they are great! I still have some of this yarn. If you would like to make one stop in and pick your color. (free pattern with purchase)

This Carpet Bag below was made with Cherry Tree Hill Boucle. I got the pattern from http://www.knittingdaily.com/ and love the bag. I lined it with a light purple.

A few weeks ago in JoAnne's class we made the Entralac headband from http://www.knitty.com/

My daughter was going to the prom and needed a small clutch bag to carry. We decided since her dress was black and turquoise we needed a black and turquoise entralac bag with sequins! Sometimes when you are trying to match yarn to a specific outfit ya just can't find the exact color. Not this time! Plymouth Yarns Encore had the EXACT color! For the sequins I used Berroco's LazerFX. It's a carry along yarn and if ya want glitz ya got glitz!
(Gotta have the sequins) I used the headband pattern and just made it shorter. Here is the picture of the front and the back. We decided to use a small wooden crochet hook as the closure.

If you haven't tried making a washcloth now and then maybe you should. Its very relaxing and gives you a chance to try out a new stitch. I just received TONS of Peaches and Cream cotton. There are several FREE patterns to try out too.

Below are two pictures that Mary Jo brought in awhile back(when my computer was not cooperating) Finally I get to show you the great cotton cabled bags she made. The pink one is made with Berroco's Love It and Crystal Palace Yarns Deco-ribbon held together and the blue one is made with Brown Sheep. Her friend made the flower closure with ribbon.

Last Saturday (May 3rd) we started the 2 socks on 2 circ. needles class.. I have to say, I just didn't get it. Poor Pat sat with Dottie and I (sorry Dottie!) on Tuesday (May 6th) for several hours trying to teach us this technique. Pat has the Patience's of a saint! I think we finally got it! I even knitted some of my sock today with no help! HAHAHA! I hope Dottie did too.

Here are just a few new things we have received. Trekking HandArt hand dyed in georgous colors. Austermann Step with Aloe and Jojoba oil and Schoeller+Stahl Sockina Cotton. YAHOO for sock yarn!

CLASSES GOIN STRONG!

Hi Knitters, I have several pictures to show this week thanks to a good customer, Joann. She brought me lots of great stuff she has been working on. First is an adorable hat with pom-poms using Plymouth Dreambaby.

Here is one of the coolest scarf's I have seen in awhile. She used 3 different colors of Crystal Palace Fjord 100% wool. Joann then added her own border at the bottom.

Below is a afghan she made. In the picture on the right it's hard to tell but there is a cat! Each square in the middle has a cat's name to go with the cat picture. What Joann did here was use several different washcloth patterns and then put them together. This is an excellent way to practice different stitch patterns and have something large to show for it.

Here is a basket weave scarf using Plymouth Encore and Crystal Palace Musique. We can tell that Joann likes pom-pom's..

This vest was made with Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece. The feel of the vest is sooo soft and the different stitch patterns keep it interesting.

This spring scarf was made with CascadeYarns Luna Cotton. Love the cables. It came out great.

Below is a Rambling Rows Afghan made by Sue. She is attempting to use up all her leftover balls of sock yarn. It's a great idea. We all have leftover yarn we could use for this project. The pattern is from Cottage Creations.

Hi Everyone, Long time no talk...I have been lost in the computer crash abbis and have taken awhile to get back to cyber space. If I have learned anything from this experience it has been BACK UP, BACK UP BACK UP your information. It's not fun putting 5oo people back into your address book! I didn't realize how much stuff I had saved on my computer. Pictures...GONE. Patterns...GONE. Addresses...GONE. Everything...GONE...UGH! Thanks goodness for my "stupid neighbor". He saved me from having to go out and get another one. Maybe not so stupid after all! (thanks Brian & Becky for putting up with me taking over your evenings) A couple of things to show ya (thanks Athena for the pictures), below are three purses that Athena and Carol knit and felted with Crystal Palace Iceland 100% wool. I love the colors and the flowers came out great...

Below is a "shmonster" before felting...Hopefully we will have a picture of him after felting also.. Cookie made this gorgeous baby set in peach and mint....Love it!

Here is an easy shawl. One of my customers brought it in to show me...I love the colors and she did a great job! It's made with Skacel's Evita cotton...Thanks everyone for "show and tell."

Just a class reminder: Saturday, May 17th we will be doing a finishing class with JoAnne. Please call ahead to save your spot and remember, there will be homework! (only the good knitting kind) Wednesday April 30th we will be starting the Cable bag. You will need size 8 needles 24"- 26" or a size 8, 10" straight will work also and 3 hanks of fantasy Naturale. The pattern suggests a 6" circular handle which you can get at Joannes Fabrics. Please call asap to place your color order: the choices are lt. beige, dk beige, blue or a mossy celery green. I have a sewing machine set up here at the shop and will be sewing the linings together for everyone. Linda Miller will be starting a 2 hand 2 color knitting class in the weeks to come. The exact date will be announced asap. If you would like to join this class please give us a call and we will put you on the list. We will be making and finishing a hat.
Also, Pat has decided to do a sock class. She will be teaching 2 socks at the same time on 2 circulars. If you want to join this class it will be on the first and thrid saturday in May from 1-3. (May 3rd and 17th) Please call to save your spot..

CUTIE PIE ALERT! & SHOW &TELL

This is Andrea. Last week I posted pictures of her sundress being worked on. (1st pict) Her mom Carol finished it and sent me these pictures...It's adorable! Look how cute she is...Carol made it out of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece and it turned out great... Look at the little flip-flops on the side! Your adorable Andrea!

Below is a picture of the little monsters we made in JoAnne's class. (Wednesday eve.6:30-8:30) Carol made these also. She is just a knittin maniac..

This is a scarf that a customer brought to show me. She handmade the beads at the Banana Factory and added them to a scarf she knit. (knitted?) I wish the picture came out better so you could see the beads closer, they are beautiful!

Check out this felted bowl and wine bottle cozie. The bowl would be perfect to put by your front door and when you come in just drop your keys and cell phone in it...then pick up the wine bottle in it's cute little cozie and be on your way to a great evening...HA! The pattern is from Plymouth..

This purse is made from a Crystal Palace pattern. I is sooo adorable and easy..You can make it in your favorite colors, toss some stuff in it and away you go..Great Job! Below is a leg warmer that Amanda made...Thursday nights group(6-8) with Diana are knittin maniacs also. The bowl,cozie,purse and leg warmer were brought to class for show and tell.

Last but certainly not least is the smallest cutie pie...This is Jackson Harris born March 18th and weighing in at 6lbs. 11oz. He is so tiny and cute...sometimes I forget how small they are and how good they smell(or bad depending). Thanks for bringing him by Steph and Andy..Hope ya get some sleep.. I wonder if this is his first apperence on a blog??? or the internet for that matter? I'm positive it's his first trip to a yarn shop...Start 'em out early I say! Nice to meet ya Jackson!

NEW PROJECTS!

Knitters, the weather is getting nicer . Strangely enough the kids and I were out on our roof on Easter afternoon....Since we all have many things to keep us busy( and who wants to get on the roof and freeze their butt off) this is the first chance we have had to take down our Christmas lights...I guess you could say that we are somewhat Okie! But in a good way..haha! At least we don't leave them up year round. It was sooo nice up there we didn't want to come down. The shingles were so warm I had to sit on my coat to keep from...well you get the idea...I love warm weather, spring and summer is my favorite time of the year...I love the beach and have been known to sit there knitting wool mittens! Do you knit more or less during warm weather? I like to knit through the summer so when the cool weather gets here I can actually wear the items I have made..Since it seems to take me sooo long to finish something it works well for me to start it a few seasons before I want to use it...
Now its SHOW & TELL TIME: below is Carole she made this super cute ribbed hat with the same yarn ( Johanna) that the kids knitted slippers were made out of...She loved working with it and it turned out real cute! Say cheese!

This Carol (below in the lime green shirt) is making a summer dress for her daughter...The pattern is in Knitter's magazine Summer 2007 Pg. 54 It's called Flip-flops and frills...She is doing a great job! It's sooo cute!

Do You recoganize anyone in these picture's? This is JoAnne's class (Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30) In the picture on the right is JoAnne's mother Jane working hard and fast on her baby hat's she donates to the hospital. Below is a scarf that Pat Walker (Tues. 1-3 & Sat. 1-3)made. It's called Judy,s scarf and its beautiful...Its made with wool and silk that is spun with beads....If you look real close you can just barley see them glitter..

Don't forget about the cables bag we will be doing sometime in April...I will give you a concrete date as soon as I know....Last but not least, I hope you have noticed a few different things on the sidebar of the blog....There is a poll that you can take and I will post the results, there is a slideshow...Hopefully nothing creepy will show up there because the pictures arent mine...I just borrowed them from the web....so If you see something offensive please let me know...I will be adding our pictures to it asap.....Also there is a youtube video link...I have added some videos from the web on knitting and crochet...I hope its helpful and again at some point in the near future I will be adding our own videos...Have a great week Knitter's! I hope everyone is having a great week. We have another new member to add to our knitting family. Steph had her baby yesterday at around 10:30 am. I can't wait to see cute little Jackson. I will post a picture here asap. Momma and baby are doing fine and so is dad! My camera is deciding not to cooperate this week. My computer says it can't recognize it sooo picture's will have to wait till next time... The apartment upstairs is coming together, two rooms are done and its looking nicer each day...It's unrecognizable also......The lucky person who rents it will have a whole new house and it's even above a yarn shop! I have to say I'm not sure I would be able to pay my bills if I lived above a yarn shop..HA! Yarn Yarn Yarn everywhere!

Just a reminder: JoAnne's class on Wednesday nights will be making this cute bag in April. We can't wait! I will give you an exact date when it gets closer.

Below is a free pattern I love. I can't get the picture to stay here for some reason..(Computers can drive ya nuts!!) I will post the picture in your email though and I'm sure you will like it too.

TODDLER FELT HAT
The following pattern will make a hat that has about a 17" circumference depending on how much you felt it.

Materials: 1-4oz. skein of Steadfast Fibers Wonderful Wool or any other worsted
weight yarn.
Needles: US# 8 16” round and set of four US #8 double pointed or size to meet
gauge
Gauge: 4 stitches per inch

Cast on 90 st on 16” round needles. Place marker and join making sure there are no twists in the row. Knit around until the piece measures 7” or desired length. In the next row, *knit 8 st then knit two stitches together * and repeat the section between the stars until you have finished the row. Knit the next row around. The next row *knit 7 st then knit two together* repeat around. Knit the next row. *Knit 6 st, knit two together* around. Knit next row. You get the idea. Continue reducing rows of K5, K2 tog, K4, K2 tog, K3, K2 tog with each reducing row divided by a row of regular knitting. Change to double pointed needles when necessary. Continue reducing every row with no row in between until you have knit two together all the way around. Break the yarn, draw the end through the remaining stitches and tie it off. Weave in the ends and you’re ready to felt!

Felting!

Get the hat soaking wet and place in a dyer set on high with either soaking wet old towels (no fresh linty ones) or soaking wet blue jeans. Heat and mechanical action felt wool. Let the cycle run for about 15 minutes, then open and check on progress. When the hat is the size you want (but still damp) remove from the dryer, otherwise, keep the dryer going and check every 3-5 minutes (less time the closer the hat gets to size).

Hat should still be damp! Do not allow the hat to actually get dry. Roll brim of hat upwards to shape, then set on flat surface to dry undisturbed. After about a ½ day, check on dryness. Turn hat over (brim in the air) to dry the inside.

Hi everyone, we are back from our crazy weekend with the cheerleaders....We had a great time and the girls did to. I have to say I am lucky that my daughter is on a squad with so many nice and caring parents. I had such a great time this weekend that I think I need to do that more often....Like once every three months.and maybe leave the kiddies home....that's not to much to ask is it? We all should take a few days to relax...Although we didn't relax..HEHE!. We were up at 5:30 am and didn't sleep much but it was ok because it was the people I was with that made it fun! The picture to the right Is several of the squads waiting on the mats to hear what place they came in and the picture to the right is of the two GREAT coaches....Vicki and Shelly. If it wasn't for them we would not have had the fun weekend!

Apartment trouble!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick blog this time and I promise I will post all pictures and news next week.....I know that some of you know what happened here last weekend and I appreciate all the kind words. I am trying to get my act together again and promise that next week the blog will be better. I thought I would throw in a few pictures of how disgusting and destructive people can actually be. Just keep in mind as you look at these pictures that when these people moved in, the place was freshly painted and had new carpets. All the wood work was beautiful. It makes me sad that they might get away with this disaster and move onto the next apt. to ruin! I am trying to contact the DA and hopefully the Police will do SOMETHING! We shall see.

MABEY BABY? and other stuff

Hi Everyone, I hope your having a great week. I know I am....lol...leaky kitchen ceiling and all! I received an email today informing me that the next time I see Steph, she will not be alone. She has a cutie on the way and HE might be here a little early. I'm sooo excited for her and Andy (and glad it's not me). Can't wait to hold the cutie pie, smell his hair (baby's heads smell so good) then as soon as he makes a peep.....he's goin to mama!

OK onto other things. This week I will have a jar on the counter to collect pennies for "Pennies for Patients". Any pennies you donate will go to a great cause. I will be dropping them off at the school in a few weeks so BRING YOUR PENNIES! The kids appreciate it very much.

I also want to let everyone know that FRIDAY MARCH 7TH I WILL BE CLOSED. My daughter and I will be in Virginia at the Cheer Nationals and we are leaving Friday am. Thanks so much for understanding..Saturday the 8th we will be OPEN our regular hours 10-3. Allyssa will be here to help you!

Pictures gallery: This is Gail. She is a regular here...lol...and has modeled on this blog before. She made this adorable baby blanket complete with sail boats and rope. I love it and think she did a great job!

This is a scarf that a customer brought in to show me. She made it with Glitter sock yarn and it came out great...Below is a shawl I made this week. I'm sure just by looking at it you can tell how easy it was... Just knit and inc. on large needles. I used glitter sock yarn and a strand of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece held together. If you aren't glittery you could use any sock yarn. It's great for spring.

Oh and not that I'm dwelling on my rejection from Knitty.com but I thought I would post the picture we sent in below. I think Lynzee did a great job while I followed her around with a camera for about a week...lol..Hope to see you all soon...Donna

WASHCLOTH MANIA! and other stuff

Well I have to say it again...I have been struck by the washcloth bug...as you can see I have made a few in the last 3 days...now I can't stop. The pink and cream cloth is a flying geese pattern. If you have ever quilted you know what that is. The green,brown and cream cloth I made up from the Mason Dixon knitting book...Its the bench cover I think...I just cut it down and made it into a washcloth size. The pink and brown one is from the Knitting Pattern Central website and it's still on the needles http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/ They have some really fun washclothes. They are great if you want to learn something new and don't want to deal with a huge project while you are learning it..Or if you just want to knit something easy and not think so much. I have 4 more on the heep that I want to make. I will be trying the entraloc washcloth next I think....I gave it a try last night but took it out 4 times because I thought it was wrong...Come to find out it was actually right... Don't you HATE that?Just look below..Sometimes knitting can do that to a person.... Tuesday Feb. 12th

Hope all of you are having a good week...Looks like the weather is gettin worse by the minute. The kiddies are getting out early and the snow is sticking to the ground. Its mighty cold out there. I'm glad I'm in here knitting. I am posting the bagStyle book again and next to it I am posting the one I made. Mine is in red colornep from Plymouth. This bag is sooo easy I started and finished it in a weekend! Now all I need is the handle...I think I'm going to get a dog choker collar and use that for my strap. Oh Yeah ,I still need to sew on the front panel. I dont think that will be to difficult.

Below in the green and black is a felted bag Athena made. It's georgous and big enough to carry lots of goodies.. If you would like the pattern just respond to the blog and let me know and I will email it to you nooo problem!

I love this scarf...I know it's hard to see but it's made from a bunch of small flowers and each one has a pearl in the middle. A customer from over by Philly bought the yarn here (Skacel's fortissima colori) and brought the scarf back to show me. It's in the Holiday Vogue 2007. She said the next time she was in town she would bring by the magazine so I could figure out where to get one for myself..I can't wait, I have wanted to make this since she brought it in....

Tuesday Feb. 5th

Ok so Im early again...Im not sure if its because this week is slow or I'm just managing my time better these days...We'll go with the managing better...HA!

Some exciting news, Wendy the big bellied woman in the last blog had her baby Monday, Jan. 28th. Little Charles was 7lbs 15oz. AWWW! How cute! (glad it's not me) Hopefully some time soon we will have a picture so show. I did get a picture from JoAnne but I cant post it for some reason...I will try again asap..

Just a few things so share..First, we are working on the watermelon bag from last weeks blog as we speak. Cindy is making the first one. I ordered the spring like colors from Plymouth. I have to be honest, I have never felted with Galway, boy oh boy...it felts excellent. As you can see below I started a bag also. I love the colors.. It was about 22" tall when I was done knitting it and now its about 10 1/2" after felting. I feels so nice too! Dont you love how I cut the opening crooked? UGH! I think the bamboo handle will go better with the bag but I love the dark brown wooden one also...the next bag will have dark brown added to it..

Thursday Feb. 7th

Here it is finished..It came out soooo nice my kids are fighting over it soooo I am already making a second one! Plymouth Galway...LOVE IT! Cindy brought the watermelon bag she is working on (thursday) for all of us to see...We all thought it was GREAT! It's not felted so she is going to do that next. She is working on another. Hope to see it soon.
I know its hard to tell but below is a knitted dog leash. EJ made this one and added alphabet beads with the dogs name...It came out sooo cute!

Here is Cat Bordhi's new Pathways book. So I hear it's excellent. I tried to figure out the two sock thing awhile back but it makes my brain want to explode! Also got Bag Style yesterday and love it already! I am making the bag on the front cover ..It is being added to my list of things to complete before the year 2012!

Last but not least...TAAADAA! Here is what I submitted to Knitty. I love these fingerless gloves and I did get a nice letter of REJECTION! LOL... Ya win some ya loose some, gotta keep goin!! I WILL be famous one day!..HA You will be receiving this pattern asap. I am attempting to get more ruffle yarn as we speak...sooo as soon as I get it, you will too.

I will be attaching a fingerless glove pattern to your email...It has a nice cable going up the side. Hope you love it as much as we do. Dont forget the the yarn for this pattern is on sale thru the month of February!

THE EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM?

Yes today is Thursday the 31st..I decided that I would get this blog thingy done early this week so if the crazy email decides to give me any trouble again I would be ahead of the game.. Yeah..ok..ya know, like you work, work, work and you are thinking yes I might be ahead this month then....THE CAR BREAKS DOWN...yeah like that! or your furnace explodes! I know, I know, we all know what that's like. UGH! The blog is still ahead of its time (Monday) but 1 day late for the SALE!!!

I wanted to give all of you a heads up....For the month of February the Crystal Palace Aran yarn will be ON SALE, 20% OFF and each Monday in Febuary we will be giving a free pattern that uses this yarn! It comes in a ton of great colors and is feltable if you so choose.

KNITTERS GALORE!

As you can see from below, It was knitting central here on Saturday! The room was filled with lotsa knittin. Even some new knitters! WE LOVE NEW KNITTERS! Remember the old Girl Scout song "Make new friends but keep the old ones, one is silver and the other is gold" I used to love singing that song when I was in Girl Scouts......Yes I am a dork! SO WHAT! Ok well Pat was busy, busy,busy! Yikes!

On to other things, Here is a bagone of the new knitters (Joan)brought. If any of you out there have seen this pattern somewhere please let us know! If not we are gonna make our own. We loved it!
Here is a picture of my dog, Onyx. Yesterday he got a NEW handmade knitted sweater. His sister Allyssa made it for him..He loved it so much that he and our other dog started running all over the house.

Here is a picture of next weeks free pattern. The cute freckly kid is Sean. (he's gonna be embarrassed) He dosent come with the pattern. We thought he made a cute model. Sean cooperates much better then the dog.

Below is a picture of a pair of thrummed mittens that Carol made. I love them and plan to make a pair. ASAP just like all of the other projects that I am planning. Yeah, I know YOU know what that's like. The second picture is the inside. The picture didn't come out so well but you get the idea.

Also, I have a customer that comes in from time to time from over by philly. She made this beautiful vest and stopped by to show it to me.

Here we have a cute cabled bag that Mary Jo made. Her and her friend made ribbon pins to put on the front. They are soooo cute. She was in today and is going to make a few for spring in cotton and ribbon. We can't wait to see them!

Below is what I have been working on. My mothers friend had knee surgery and needs a knee warmer sooo, here it is!

Here is one of the last pictures of one of JoAnne's students. She is bound to pop any day now! We hope everything turns out well.

ADDING MORE CLASSES!

Hi all, There are several new things to tell you. Yay! I'm so excited! There are several new classes being added to our list.

JoAnne Turcot will be having a weekly class every Wednesday from 6:30-8:30, starting January 23rd. For the first 4 classes she will be working on a baby sweater using Encore Worsted. You are welcome to join them and bring what you are working on. She will present the lesson for the evening then help will be available. Cost is $5 for each class.

Also Linda Miller will be here every other Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30,Starting January 29th. So I here, she is the sweater master...If you have ever wanted to make a sweater and were afraid to try alone...This class is for you. Sheteaches from start to finish...I think I might join, I want to make a Fair Isle sweater that actually fits after I"ve done all that work...We all know how that is! Cost is $5 for each class.

Customers pictures: Above to the left is Judy, she made these gorgeous cabled hat and scarf set in Pat's class and wore it right out of the shop on Saturday. Its hard to see the cables in the picture, but they came out great! Above Middle: Carol is making a pillow from Interweave's Holiday Issue 2007. She knit it out of Mission Falls 1824 Wool and is in the middle of making an H on the front of it for her hubby, Harold. Above right: The is a work in progress...this customer is making a sweater out of Mission Falls 1824 Wool. I am sure it's going to be gorgeous...More pictures to come!

This cutie sweater was made by me for a baby shower that I attended on Saturday for my friend Steph. Unfortunately I didn't finish it so I had to bring it back with me to the shop and today I will be adding the buttons. Luckily I hear that I'm not the only one who runs short on time. I always think I will have enough and never do..

Above is a lacy scarf I'm working on. It will be one of the free patterns soon I hope. Maybe by next week. HAHA! (time again) I am using really really nice handspun with gorgeous tiny glass beads. If you look reeeeal close you might be able to see the beads...See the cute stitch markers? I love them! It's 70% Merino Wool and 30% Silk...MMMM..very nice. Its about 150 yds. so it should make a decent size scarf. There are several other colors as well. Charcoal, green, brown and this tan.

Last week on the blog I told you about a hand dyed yarn called Starbug knits. This a picture of a sock (obviously) knit with this yarn. Just to give you some idea.

I almost forgot, I found a pattern for 4 felted bags on http://www.etsy.com/ I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them and ordered. Below is a picture of one of the bags. It's one of the best felted bag patterns I have seen in awhile. Also, below is the link to Madeline's blog, if you decide you would like the pattern also, you can go to her blog and order them. Hello again gang, We have some new yarn in our midst...Starbug has decided to leave us with some gorgeous hand dyed superwash. As you can see the colors are to DYE for...again I crack myself up! Right now we have fingering weight, great for socks or even fingerless gloves. My daughter decided she wants the blue and yellow color. Hopefully soon she will be bringing us some worsted weight cause we love the colors!

We also received some great Handmade stitch markers. Listen, the elves that made these, worked very hard and did a great job. They are beautiful. As you can see they come in a varity of sizes to fit needles 0-13. Next time your in check them out!

A few more show and tells, Lois made this beautiful felted bag with black wool and Optic. Great job Lois...Gail,(told you she was our shawl model) made another prayer shawl in blues this time...Again it's gorgeous!

FREE PATTERN NEW YEAR!

Hi everyone, I hope your New Year is off to a good start! I have to say, I am so glad it's over...See Below??? This is what happens to you around the holidays when your kids are off for a week or two! I crack myself up!!! Now I want spring! We are going to be spoiled by the nice warm weather tomorrow...It's supposed to be 66. Imagian me thinking that 66 degreese is warm...I'm a 86 degree on the beach sweatin and a knittin kinda girl!
Ok ok, I gotta say, they are cute though!

I have a few customer project pictures to show you but first I want to remind you not to forget the Baby Sweater class that is starting January 19th with JoAnne Turcotte. The class runs from 10am-12 the 19th and 26th. Learn everything you need to know about making a sweater and have some fun too! I am making a baby sweater for a friend as we speak and I have taken it out 3 times already.... I have this issue with gauge. I'm not afraid to admit it. I knit loose and I can't stand how much smaller my needle needs to be then the pattern suggests. Ugh! If the pattern says a size 8, I have to use about a 6...I hate that! So usually I try to get away with using one needle size smaller but guess what...It dosent work! So I waste time reknitting..Why you ask? I dont know, maybe I think I can tame that darn yarn to do what I want! Never mind what it wants! I think I should take JoAnne's class....

>Also, Pat Walker's class is doing well Tuesdays from 1-3pm and Saturday's 1-3pm. I don't have a picture of Pat, sorry. (I will get one when she least expects it...hehe) during Pat's class the shop is open so she gets lucky in the picture dept! I can't follow her around.. This is Gail. She takes Pat's class every Saturday. She made a gorgeous prayer shawl out of Plymouth's Boucle. It came out so nice. We all loved it. She is our new prayer shawl model!!! Work it Gail!!!!

Mary Jo made a cute cabled bag for her mother for Christmas. She added an initial pin to the front and it is sooooo nice! We love it!
Donna (not me) made both of these adorable hats for her grandchildren for christmas! (lord help me, no grandchildren)

Diana is here on Thursday Evenings from 6-8pm and her class is going well also...They are a roudy bunch I'll tell ya that..After they leave my stomach hurts from laughing! Here is Diana sittin on the floor helping one of the girls! (She's gonna kill me also)
This is the Thursday evening class knittin away! or yakin for that matter...HAHAHA!

More News: In December JoAnne and I went to Lehigh University to help teach a sorority how to knit... they were knitting hats for patients in New York's Prespyterian Hospital, Oncology ward...
JoAnne taught and I fumbled through...haha...Im not such a good teacher! I admit it at least! The girls were great. All of them were polite, Their moms would be proud, our hats off to ya Ladies! GREAT JOB! Thanks Lauren for the pictures. Pass this on!

Ya know when you bring your camera all prepared to be the photographer? and the battery goes dead as soon as you open it? The Holidays are upon us! YIKES!

I just wanted to drop you all a line and say my last Merry Christmas or if you celebrate Hanukkah, Happy Hanukkah or if you celebrate no holiday except life, then Happy Day! I want to post some pictures of projects that customers have finished for Holiday gifts...and the next two weeks of hours just as a reminder: I will be OPEN tomorrow (Saturday the 22nd) from 10-3. Pat will be here from 1-3 for her class. If you would like to join them please just stop by! Monday the 24th, Christmas Eve, I will be here from 11-2. The 25th I will be closed and the 26th I will be closed. I will be OPEN the 27th,28th and 29th. Pat will be here on the 29th from 1-3 for her class. I will be closed the 31st, the 1st and the 2nd. I will reopen January 3rd and Diana's class will be starting January 3rd from 6-8pm. After the new year I will post the class schedule for January and hopefully February.

Show and tell:

This gorgeous scarf was made by Carol. She made it with Ultra Alpaca. It felts so soft! I have received several compliments on it and decided after the holidays there are several of us that are going to make one for ourselves! I love the color too!

The beautiful scarf below was made by Patty. The buttons are gorgeous and I love the colors. Several customers were in when she brought it by and we all loved it! I saw it as an excellent window topper and Patty saw it as an excellent table runner also! For Christmas it could be reds and green, for Easter, pinks and purples, YOU GET THE IDEA. Patty made hers with Lambs Pride. She used the pattern in Felt It!

I also received several new books and some NEW YARNS!

Barbara Delinsky wrote a new novel, Family Tree. Berroco has come out with a knitting collection inspired by her novel. There are 4 designs in Ultra Alpaca and Pure Merino. Both Stitch Style Mittens and Socks have several awesome patterns. I wish these would have gotten here several weeks ago. They are both a small sized book and would be great for stocking stuffers!

Now for the new yarn. I just received BOKU from Plymouth! It's beautiful! Here are some of the colors and I can order any you might want but don't see. Its just like Noro but with a much lower price tag and excellent quality.

I also received Encore Boucle Colorspun...and several prayer shawl books to go with it. I also have an Afghan book with a bunch excellent pattern!

I have some real nice colors in Cherry Tree Hill's Supersock and Silky Kidd.

Tis the Season!

Its getting close to Christmas and Hanukkah has started !In a few weeks it will be a new year already. Boy the year goes fast, I remember sitting on the beach at the Jersey Shore this summer. It doesn't seem like that long ago.
I have several pictures for you..Just Please Please ignore the model. I'm sure several of you will say "Hmmmm that back round looks familiar". Can ya guess where the pictures were taken? HEHEHE! Yes Yes I know I'm nut's...Its the ones that don't know that ya gotta watch out for! Ok, ok pictures already!
I am posting these because they are gifts that can be made quick. Just make a few and put them under tree without a tag, you could even have it in a nice Holiday bag and when you receive a gift you did not expect, You have one READY and waiting! I hate when someone gives me a gift and I have nothing to give back, I know, I know tis the season for giving not receiving, but still...So here we go: THE TOP TEN GIFTS FROM A YARN SHOP !

THE BEADED BAG: Here is the cutest little bag with a draw string and beads..You can make it quick. I wrote the pattern and have it here so, If your interested please let me know... I know it seems like it might be hard but knitting with beads is soooo easy!

Several of you wanted to see my daughter Kallie acutally using the bag..I made it for her to take to Saucon Valley's Christmas dance. See it on her left hip. She loved it and several of her friends asked her where she got it!
2 HATS:
Ok now this is where I said "IGNORE the model!"

Just look at the hat's (really I mean it) The first is a pattern from Norah Gaughan's new book (very easy) and the second is an earflap hat that my kids love and it can be made in a day! REALLY! As you can see it fits me also. (don't look though)
A SCARF:

A HEADBAND:

The one on the left is a scarf from Norah's book also. You can make it as long or short as you like and you could make the hat to match. If you like headbands better you can whip this one up in a jiffy! It's just ribbing and short rows..Add a large button on the back and your done.

A NECKWARMER:

If you have decided you are just not going to make another scarf, that's ok too. Here is a neck warmer! It works to keep the cold out and guy's love them. They are great for skiing and hunting. What guy is going to sit in the woods with a scarf on? BUT a NECKWARMER...AHHH!

WASHCLOTHS:

I had to post another picture of the neck warmer. Also the neck warmer is resting on a washcloth and to the right of the white washcloth is a ball band washcloth. They are great gift also. A couple of wash clothes tied with a ribbon or in a small basket. What a great hostess gift to take to a party!

UNRUFFLE BAG:

Here is another little bag without all the ruffle's. If you know someone that isn't ruffley(is that a word) then this is the bag for
you. Quick and easy baby! That's what I say..(Uhh maybe I shouldn't say that anymore)

FINGERLESS GLOVES:

Who can pass up fingerless gloves? I know I cant. I love them and use mine everyday. They are great for driving and guitar playing and OHmygoodness KNITTING or golfing, or working on the computer or working on the car or walking the dog or drawing or construction or....You get the idea!

BABIES GALORE came to SIT N KNIT!

First things first! Last night at our Sit N Knit we had visitors. (the really cute kind) Ladies I'm talkin about the BABIES! This is Victor with his Mama knitter Jill. He is 4 months old and as cute as can be. Listen, when it comes to the male species ya gotta start-um knittin early!

Now, here is the youngest person ever known to knit.....Lydia!(notice her name is highlighted lavender?) As you can see she is taking a quick cat nap before she finishes her Christmas Stocking. Santa is just around the corner!

We had a full house last night. Cindy even brought snacks! Some of the women that were here decided they wanted to come every Thursday from 6-8 for class. They didn't want to wait until January. So I am just waiting for a confirmation then I will spread the word.

I decided today I was going to bring my camera and snap some pictures of new things around here..First things first though..I want to appoligize if any of you have tried to contact me through email in the past few days. I changed from dial-up to DSL and you all know what a nightmare that is! They say "It's easy" They say "it will be no problem" YEAH RIGHT! I don't know who THEY are but THEY don't know what THEY are talking about! Anyway, it's fixed now (after I called the Verizon tech crying and ready to smash my comp.) and hopefully it's working much better from now on. UGH!

This is the new Interweave Knits Winter 2007 Magazine. We just received it a few days ago and love it ...There are several things I want to make from it already. I love the Celtic Tote and the Twisted Cable sweater. There are several other things in the mag. that I love but "Time keeps slippin slippin slippin in to the future" We all know how that is. SWEATERS: We also just received lots of patterns from COTTAGE CREATIONS. Pat has been knitting like a mad woman. She let me borrow some of her sweaters to show off. If there are any here that you would like to make please reply to this blog and we will set it up. She is able to do Mondays, Tuesdays and or Saturdays from 1-3. Please let us know what day is better for you. This is the Babies & Bears Sweater for Grown-ups. (She also Crochets)

This is The Wonderful Wallaby Sweater for all sizes! (toddler to adult) These are some of the best patterns availible. This one is made without a hood. You have several choices. You can make a custom sweater without all the work. One of JoAnn's friends made this for her grandaughter and let us borrow it.

This is the Rambling Rows Afghan. Pat made this one with some georgous colors. This pattern is also from cottage Creations.

This is one of the earflap hat's from Cottage Creations. I made it without the flaps...My son loves it. He has fingerless gloves to match!

This is a sweater that JoAnn Turcot made. So cute! The pattern is from Plymouth Yarns. Let us know if you want to make any of these patterns!

CLASSES A PLENTY!

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all are coming along with your Christmas shopping? Oops I think I'm supposed to say Holiday shopping...Not politically correct am I? I have to tell you this...My daughter came home from school yesterday and said that all employees of the school are supposed to say HOLIDAY vacation not Christmas vacation. Are we really offended by the word Christmas? I have to say if someone said to me happy Hanukkah, I would not be offended! I'm not Jewish and I still wouldn't be offended. Is it actually an offense? Is it offensive? I thought an offense was something like "The language he/she was using was offensive to me". Offensive, I need to look this up in the dictionary- is it morally offensive?-Here is the meaning of offensive: causing offense; arousing a visceral reaction of disgust, anger or hatred. Does saying Happy Hanukkah or Merry Christmas or Happy Kwanzaa cause me to feel disgust, anger or hatred? Ohhh my goodness NO! Sometimes I cant, won't and don't understand this America we live in. What I'm starting to understand is why our children and teens are becoming so violent and disrespectful...could it be we are to concerned with what is offensive to them, instead of being parents and taking responsibility for teaching our children that love and respect of others and their beliefs are some of the most important things in life?
I think this seems to be a pattern....First I rant...hehe! Then I am onto knitterly things: If I am offensive to any of you wonderful people please let me know....If you have an opinion on anything I have said here please post it. I know I can't be the only one out here who thinks maybe we are a little off.

CHANGE IS A COMMIN!

I know how busy we all are believe me..I am in the same boat! I appreciate so much that you all tolerate me sending you my crazy thoughts....Sometimes I don't know how we make it through a day never mind a week. Run here, run there, make dinner, do laundry, clean work, work ,work, Oh yeah and Halloween parties at school...I'm feeling stressed can you tell? Ok I'm done now....onto knitterly things,
Did you ever wake up and your taste has changed? (Nothing to deep here, makes...my....brain...hurt...) Like the colors you thought you liked.....ummm...not so much anymore. I remember this happening to me around 25 years old, and much more recently. A good customer came in yesterday ( your all good) and said she just woke up and decided that today she didn't like the colors she liked last week... I wonder if its a ten year thing....like a cleansing of old feelings and ideas.. maybe growing? learning? Example: Three months ago I didn't like dark chocolate or red wine, Now I LOVE, love, love dark chocolate and red wine....I'm thinking, What's wrong with me?...I really disliked dark chocolate and never drank wine... any of it..now I can eat and drink it for breakfast...HAHAHA! No really I don't... I didn't say I wouldn't like to but I don't! (Must...have ...some...restraint...) I have people counting on me!
Where am I going with all this you ask? I have been reading Knitting Daily lately ( very good) and they just did a survey about why knitters have tons of projects on their needles at the same time and a lot of us don't finish them..Including me! Do you think it is because we just get sick and tired of a project we know is going to take more effort then we first hoped....or do you think its because you have this little voice in your head (like me) saying I need to make something for my four kids and my mom and so on....So I figure ok, I'm almost done with this so I will start that and finish up the other and it gets so out of hand before I know it I have 10 things all waiting to be finished? Or do you think sometimes its because you just woke up one day and didn't like it anymore as much as you thought you did and you changed your mind? I have a sweater that I found in Interweave last year and I loved it....I decided to make it out of Steadfast Fibers Mohair..I couldn't wait to start it. Well needless to say guess where it sits half done..You guessed it, in my kitchen! Ughh! I haven't even been able to look at it....Its not the yarn that annoys me...I LOVE the yarn...Its just the sweater or the whole idea of this sweater that I just don't like anymore....I need a personal sweater maker...lol...Although I think maybe I would take a maid and chef first...YES! a maid..Ohhh what about a pool boy?
Ok, ok, I know I'm dreaming...but what is it for you that has you stuck with unfinished projects? OR are you the rare person that doesn't have lots of stuff on YOUR needles? If so let us know how you do it? Must...have...restraint....We would really like to know....Please share your knitterly ideas and opinions on how and why... We cant wait, maybe you will be the one that changes it for all of us. (got a pool boy? hehehe!) Oh by the way, last but not least.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

CLASSES: We have added an extra class in November. November 24th we will have a class from 1-3 pm with Diana. You can bring what you are working on and she will help you if you are stuck or just need some guidence and moral support. Keep in mind you will receive 10% off any supplies you buy at Knitwitz for any class. If you have something in mind that you want to make and do not have the supplies just come in a little early and we will help you decide on a pattern and yarn. Diana's class will also be only $5 for two hours.

TAAA DAAAA! THE WASHCLOTH SCARF! AND OTHER THINGS

Ok so I went kinda far with the washcloth scarf...but...but....I love it. YOU have to try it. I made it out of Mission Falls Superwash 100% Wool it's also great for left over yarn that's for sure! My coat is plaid blue,cream and brown. You know I had to throw in some pink for fun! If you have any questions about it (you know you want it) just reply and I will get back to you asap. Most of you can figure out how to do it like I did....but just in case! OK on to other things:

CLASSES: Class will be November 10th and 17th from 10-12. so far...I am posting a picture of the first project. Its an easy Snowman that you can decorate your house with or give as a gift. We all know how it goes...Your knitting a project and suddenly, you have the urge (not that urge) the urge to start something else. The is a scarf pattern that I have had for a long time from Annie Modesitt. I emailed her awhile back and asked her a question about a pattern and she emailed me this. I had several customers who wanted to make it but I couldn't find the ribbon yarn. It was extinct all across the United States. Finally, finally, Skacel has come out with a ribbon yarn that is similar and works great. They have limited colors but I loved this one. If you want to learn lace, or love lace already, this scarf is perfect. It has a small chart and each row is written . I don't think this picture does it justice. I wish I could scan the scarf itself...(hey not a bad idea). It is made by making each side of the scarf separate. (2 pieces) When you are done with both side you will need to do a 3-needle bind-off. You will be practicing VDD and YO, Vertical Double Decrease, Yarn Over and a 2x2 rib. Its great fun and gorgeous also. See how the ribbon roses tuck under your neck? As you can see from the picture I did mine all in black ( and it's not blocked yet)! This is for certain people (and you know who you are) that love the elegant color of black and only black! Sorry the ribbon yarn has some red. I ask you ,what's more elegant then red and black?

Ok so I said last time that I was addicted to washcloths...Well I wasn't kidding, I decided I loved the ballband pattern so much I made it into a scarf to match my new jacket...lol.. I know sounds crazy but it looks great! I have been getting compliments on it since I started it. When I'm done I will post a picture and then we'll see how many of you want my washcloth scarf...(I know you want it)! Its so easy and you can use left over yarn and add NEW yarn to make it perfect. ( I wouldn't be a yarn shop owner if I didn't try at least)
Onto other things, JoAnne Turcotte will be here in the near future Hopefully the second week in November. She is a designer for Plymouth yarns and an excellent teacher. She will be having classes here on twice a week. So I think we have decided on Saturdays and we will figure out the other day...If you have anything to say about these classes like what you want to learn please respond to this blog and we will try to take that into account when putting together the schedule. Spaces may be limited so please let me know if you want to be included....Oh yeah...lol the cost is amazing, $5.00 and the class runs for 2 hours...You cant beat that! Hope so hear from some of you....

Yeah! The yarn that was in my kitchen(Plymouth) is now sitting very happily in cubbies waiting to go home with a few gentle knitters that will love it! I also just received several new books. If you want to knit a sweater for your pet, I have just the book for you. I'm also am addicted to knitting washcloths at the moment and just received the Mason Dixon book and I love it. One Skein Wonders just arrived also and a book that I have been looking for and finally found: Knits for older kids. This book has great patterns for kids sizes 2 - 10+. The Interweave Knits special addition mag. HOLIDAY GIFTS came yesterday and has some great patterns. One more book I just have to tell you about is Ocean Breezes, knitted scarves inspired by the Sea by Sheryl Thies you will love it!

Ok, I'm over my breaking out into a sweat over starting a blog. I want to thank The Knitouious Mrs B for all her help getting this thing going.....She was very patient, even when I couldn't think of the most simple thing to type about myself..So, a HUGE thanks to you teacher! Tell your hubby I am proud and he should be too.
Now onto other things, Just a quick overview of some NEW things we have received in the last few weeks, I have 4 boxes on Plymouth Yarn sitting in my kitchen..At the moment I"m not sure where it's going..If anyone has superior organisational skills...please stop by and HEEEEEELP! I also have all colors in the Mission Falls Super wash Wool and the new Berroco Jasper 100% wool (gorgous!) and Berroco's new Comfort an acrylic and nylon blend (love it)Oh yes, last but not least, again thank MrsB, I have several new colors in Peaches and Cream cotton and thanks MrsB, Now you have me hooked on washcloths and have made 2 and started my third. Two from the ballband pattern and one of my own. It will look like (hopefully) a log cabin quilt for all you quilters out there. Hopefully I will be able to post the pattern..Until next time
